Vinos del Marques is located in Queretaro, all the way down at the 21st parallel and approximately 7,000 feet above sea level. This is an arid, southern desert, but its high elevation provides great temperature shifts and makes Queretaro the second largest wine growing region in Mexico. Vinos del Marques is a new winery, only starting in 2013, but they have one of Mexico’s most exciting young winemakers in Mauricio Rodrigues. His wines are unique in that he specializes in high elevation Nebbiolo. This wine is composed of 90% Nebbiolo and 10% Malbec that has been aged for 9 months in used French Oak.
