In the 2022 vintage, Pernot produced his Bourgogne Blanc from carefully selected, declassified Puligny-Montrachet grapes, or from grapes grown in the zone. As such, it was decided to offer this labeled as Bourgogne Blanc "Cote d'Or" to differentiate it from other Bourgognes Blanc from perhaps less exalted regions. While it may not have quite the depth or aging potential of Pernot's Puligny-Montrachet Villages (also available, see below), it does have the same obvious, special "Puligny" flavor components.
Pale green-gold in color, it has a lovely, refined bouquet of crisp apple, white flowers and a hint of warm bread. Silky smooth on the palate, it has long, delicious but subtle, citrus flavors, marzipan, acacia blossom and a hint of cinnamon. It is crisp, focused, pure and precise with exciting minerality, lots of energy and excellent balance. Vinified in steel but aged in oak, not a splinter of wood can be discerned.
