This is a delightful, FRENCH dry wine that has back bone, grip and strength of character. It has lovely melon flavors with a touch of yellow plum. It is creamy yet deep and structured on the palate with the strength of character reflective of Bergheim's stony soil, and it will last. At under $13.00 a bottle, it's a steal!

Please note the words "French" and "dry" in the first paragraph. Alsace wines have been and continue to be misunderstood, underappreciated and under-priced. Most people still think ALL Alsatian wines are sweet, German wines. In fact, they are decidedly and emphatically, proudly French. Most are dry and crisp with excellent minerality, cut and style.

It's easy to see why people get confused. Most of the bottles are green and fluted, like German wine. That's explained because, due to war, Alsace has bounced back and forth between Germany and France four times in the last 100 years.

Established for over two hundred and fifty years in the mediaeval town of Bergheim, set in the very heart of the Alsace wine-growing region, the LORENTZ family devote themselves to the cultivation of vines, which is their passion. The family tradition has been handed down unchanged from father to son, in spite of all the vagaries of history. Each new generation has respected the tradition, adding just the right measure of imagination needed to develop the LORENTZ company and bring it in line with the times.

This is the task undertaken by Georges LORENTZ, fourty, and the current Managing Director of the company. He divides his time equally between his cellars in Bergheim and his travels all over the world to promote his fine wines, which he performs with genuine passion.
