History:La Morandina's terroir is superlative and incredibly idiosyncratic. The Moscato grape, by nature most aromatic, is exalted at the estate's Bricco Francia cru. So particular is the soil that I suggested planting Viognier, just to see what another aromatic varietal would do there, and the results have been rewarding indeed, and fun. Giulio Morando's Moscato is perfection: it has the richness that thoroughly satisfies coupled to a fragrant freshness that prevents cloying; and the bouquet transcends Moscato with unique nuances of sage and mint. The estate completes its offerings with a rendition of intense Chardonnay and two wonderful Barbera d'Asti, both issuing from very old vines: husky and riddled with spice, these are pure examples of this rich and satisfying varietal.
